Between spring 1826 and spring 1827, Scottish naturalist David Douglas spent a lot of time around the Hudson’s Bay Company’s new Fort Colvile post at Kettle Falls. This slide presentation will follow his treks after native flora and fauna, introduce some of the characters and personal issues that shaped his view of the community, and try to relate the landscape he described with the place where we live today.
