Author, Jack Nisbet, Presents David Douglas: A Naturalist at Work
The Foundation is honored to host an afternoon appearance by Jack Nisbet, author of David Douglas: A Naturalist at Work. Nisbet will share images and stories from the journals, field notebooks and sketchbooks of this famous Scottish adventurer. Saturday, March 22, 2:00 pm at the Breazeale Interpretive Center. This program is free, but registration is required. You can register online or call (360) 428-1558.
Between 1825 and 1834 Scottish naturalist David Douglas made a series of wide-ranging forays throughout our region for the London Horticultural Society, but the scope of his work stretched far beyond garden plants. This slide presentation will trace Douglas’s adventures, and connect stories about the flora, fauna, people, and landscapes that he described with today’s Northwest.
