Between 1825-33, Scottish naturalist David Douglas made the first systematic collections of flora and fauna in our region. He also forged strong personal connections with local fur trade and tribal families who were intimately tied to the landscape. This slide presentation will examine some of what Douglas saw, and try to figure out what his observations have to say to us now.
